The new 470 Offshore Convertible enclosed flybridge model is a three cabin/two bathroom luxury cruiser and sportfisher. It will join the successful 500 and 550 models.
Founder and CEO Bill Barry-Cotter told guests at Maritimo’s official Sydney Boat Show party on Friday, July 31 that the company had identified opportunities in the 40-to-50-foot range. The 470 Offshore is the first new model available in this market sector.
“The cruiser/sportfisher is a strong sector of the luxury boating market both in Australia and overseas,” said Mr Barry-Cotter. “At Maritimo we have built an enviable reputation for long-range luxury cruisers. Now we are expanding those skills to the mid-range sportfish market.”
With an internal staircase to the enclosed bridge, aft helm position and a large fishing-friendly cockpit, the 470 Offshore Convertible is aimed at a market for people who love both cruising and the thrill of big game fishing.
The cockpit includes an optional live bait well in the transom and bait prep station over a coolbox forward as well as a sink with mixer tap. A reinforced plate under the cockpit floor provides for installation of a game chair and the wide coaming overlaps into the cockpit for comfortable stand-up fishing and installation of rod holders.
The luxurious saloon features a fully equipped galley forward, leather L-shape lounge around a fold-out table in the starboard aft quarter and a large lounge in the forward port quarter opposite the galley.
In the enclosed flybridge an L-shape lounge around a solid table can comfortably seat five guests forward of the helm. The bridge is open at the rear, with mid rails and clears providing protection in difficult weather conditions. Twin hatches in the hardtop or an optional sunroof provide both light and air.
Forward of the saloon, the accommodation space includes three cabins – a master stateroom to port with a queen double bed and ensuite bathroom, a guest stateroom forward and bunk cabin amidships on the starboard side. The forward and starboard cabins share the second bathroom.
Maritimo Marketing Director Luke Durman said the 470 Offshore Convertible is based on the successful 500 Offshore Convertible.
“The flybridge and the cockpit are the same length as the 500 Offshore,” he said. “With a slightly narrower beam and about one metre shorter in overall length, we expect similar performance, giving the boat a comfortable cruise speed of about 25 knots and top speed in excess of 30 knots.”
Standard engines in the Maritimo 470 Offshore Convertible are twin Volvo Penta D11 turbo diesels, rated to 670hp each.
